Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder out of the Dark
This half day workshop is aimed at helping both professionals and sufferers to come to terms with and know how to cope with this little understood condition.
- Non epileptic attacks look like epileptic seizures but are not caused by electrical activity in the brain.
- It is estimated that around 15,000 people have NEAD in the UK, approximately the same number as have Multiple Sclerosis.
- Of those sent for video telemetry testing in a hospital setting for intractable seizures, around 4 out of 10 will be found to have NEAD.
- NEAD affects people of all ages, social class, religion, sexual orientation, race, intellectual ability.
