Welcome to Flourish Therapy

Welcome to your Glasgow city centre counselling service.

My name is Susan Chambers-Downie. I am a dedicated and experienced professional counsellor/psychotherapist and have spent my working life in the caring professioSusan Chambers Downie - Counsellor and Psychotherapistns, changing vocation from nursing to counselling in 1997.

You may be wondering how talking therapy can help. Talking therapies are for anyone who is going through a difficult time or has emotional problems they are unable to deal with by themselves. Many people find counselling the same or more effective than medication.

If you would like to have an informal chat prior to arranging an appointment, I am happy to offer a FREE 30 minute introduction via telephone or internet. Certain fee reductions are available and if you are unable to travel into Glasgow I am happy to consider home visits within the Glasgow area (see Pricing page).

Whether you are searching for a therapist either for yourself or on behalf of someone else please feel free to browse my website to see whether you think counselling is for you and whether you think I may be able to help you.

Client Comments

“I’d never been for counselling before. I was really anxious when I went to my first session but Sue quickly put me at my ease. Her counselling room was cosy and warm and she spoke to me with complete understanding. I soon was able to feel confident that I was in a safe place.”

“Sue always tries to be as flexible as she can with her time. She tries her best to find a time that fits us both.”

“It’s great that Sue can come to me for a home visit as I can’t get out and about. I really look forward to my weekly session. It is the one time in the week where I can just be me and not worry about saying how I really feel about my illness.”

“The waiting list for NHS was just too long. I felt I couldn’t wait. I am working through some stress management strategies now and, while there is a way to go, I am starting to feel better.”
